Randy’s Adventures at Britpack…..Day 2
Randy’s Adventures at Britpack…..Day 2
Continued…
DAY TWO Friday 5th Oct
Two and a half hours after climbing into bed… I was
woken by the alarm going off for the 4th time … and
figured I best get up and get showered as I really wanted
my breakfast.
Met even more people at breakfast – Except the ‘Experts’
who were drinking with us a few hours earlier
(Ah – that’s how they kept going…. in fact some stayed
in bed til after dinner – as did some attendees….hehe)
Moving on…
After eating a full English and drinking a couple of strong
coffees, I was set for the day ahead (I do normally have tea
on a morning… but after a late night, I find coffee does
the job of waking me up far more efficiently…. And lets
not forget Simon’s invaluable tip…lol)
Into the seminar, I’m calling this day 2 – but to some it
was day 1 as they hadn’t grabbed the VIP tickets for the
previous night
(TIP:- spend the extra and go the day before…well worth
it for your business in terms of getting to know people
who can help you move forward).
After registration of those just arriving, the
introductions by Robert explained what was going to be
happening and our first main speaker was Richard Butler,
That lovely Irish chap who seemed rather young and jovial
to be a “Success Coach”.
I have to put my hand on my heart and say – I was extremely
impressed!
Now I’m not about to go through all the details of his
presentation…. hey – you have to pay to attend…lol
But I will say this, if you are looking for a coach to aid
your success – look him up and talk to him!
In 22 years selling I had many occasions of sitting,
listening to these type of people – many of whom thought
they had all the answers, only to find they were reading
from a text book and didn’t have a clue about ‘real’
life….
In fact I was so impressed at just how much Richard did
know – that I made a point of congratulating him on his
presentation and offering him a testimonial.
He really does know his stuff!
Sidenote: – If you go to a seminar, be sure to have some
credit cards or cash with you…. Some people will tell you
that the speakers will try and sell you something.
That is a true statement …. but there are always two ways
of looking at things.
1 – you could think they are just trying to make money from
you.
OR
2 – If you bother to look at the value they provide for
people who attend …. You’ll be amazed and shocked!
I have a theory on this….
I know – I’m getting into a Ramble… but bear with me,
this may serve you well one day (when you attend a seminar
yourself)
My theory is this…..
They know you are committed to succeeding due to the fact
that you’ve invested in yourself to attend.
So by putting a package together that is ridiculously
discounted from it’s normal pricing… they know that you
are getting a bargain – but more importantly — Unlike a
lot of people who buy packages and let them sit on their
hard drives collecting dust, these people know you’re more
likely to use it, apply it and succeed with it.
Hence you’ll make a great example for them to ‘show off’
in the future to sell more at ‘normal’ pricing.
So you see – it does make sense for them to make these
ridiculous offers, and all of the speakers did.
Just make sure if you do invest – that it’s for the right
reasons… not just a cheap price on thousands worth of
product or coaching. – Be sure it’s an area you want to
invest in and that you’ll follow through on it!
OK.. back on track… where were we..oh yes – Lunch.
Wow – time flies when you’re having fun….
What a great time to find smokers corner and mingle with
some ‘experts’ who are having a ciggy break.
It’s amazing how many tips and really useful nuggets of
info you can pick up in smokers corner…lol
After lots more mingling we returned from lunch to the
‘Hot Seat’…… That’s a scary place to be!
Pete Lauder was the first poor soul who dared to brave it
out.
(Rather him than me)
I shouldn’t really say that – as the hot seat is for our
benefit…. let me explain.
Pete stood up out front with his website on screen for all
to view……..
…… While a panel of experts ripped it to pieces in
front of us all !!!
See what I mean about him being brave??
OK – so he benefited from a lot of expert advice and
opinions on what was ‘wrong’ with his site, and how it
could be improved to get him better results…… but boy
were they brutal!
Pete took it like a man, listened to the suggestions and
agreed with just about everything the experts had to say.
In fact there were a lot of us taking notes like crazy (and
glad we weren’t up there)… It’s amazing how much you can
glean from an hour or so worth of expert opinions ripping
your site apart line by line.
A truly enlightening learning experience (that’s what
they’d have us say …. I still say they ravaged the poor
defenceless puppy…. regardless of intent)
Seriously though – if you are thick skinned… it’s an
amazing experience that would, in real value terms, have
cost literally many hundreds in consultation fees. All for
free to the brave few…lol
Pete’s site was homebizassistant.com in case you want to
wander over and take a look, It’ll be interesting to see
if he’s implemented the changes.
Next up was Tracy Repchuk, here’s a lady that’s been
around the block.
NO – I didn’t mean that in any derogatory way… I mean
she has had way more than her fair share of adversity…..
Sod’s law comes to mind when you hear her story..
“If anything can possibly go wrong — It Will”
Look her up and read about the trials she went through….
The amazing thing is that she did go through them, and came
out of it all to win awards, build successful companies, and
release what was to become an Amazon bestseller.
So definitely worth listening to!
Another solid presentation of many aspects to follow to
achieve success online, and an inspiration to many female
marketers I don’t doubt.
Tracy also made an offer that a good few people took
advantage of, and I’m sure we’ll be seeing those names in
the not too distant future… (no – I’m not telling who, I
have their cards and I’m saving them to myself ….lol)
We finished the day (seminar wise) with a good session of
Interrogate the experts (hey some of the late night
drinkers were finally awake….hehe)
This was great as we had them all up on stage while we got
to ask questions and drill them for answers…. specific
answers.
This brought to our attention some great resources that
these guys use…. names, links to specific websites,
services, etc. some really cool stuff – but again…. you
need to get yourself along if you want all the info.
I’m only writing this for the curious to give a general
feel of the event!
(I may give out more info to those on my lists – so if
you’re a subscriber of mine, feel free to ask
)
So after the seminar, it was back to our rooms and change
for the evening.
There was a fish & chip shop just a few minutes walk up the
road – so that was the evening meal decided upon
Then back to the private bar for “More Networking” as
Robert Puddy called it.
More chats with loads of really nice people all sharing
ideas and discussing what works and what doesn’t. I got to
meet more of the IM7 team who will be making a big splash
fairly soon, also met Andrew Stark… now there’s a
pleasant but quite chap. Not that there’s anything wrong
with being quiet – but as he’s of Scottish origin – it’s
not what one expects..lol
Plenty more opportunities to pop outside to smokers corner
too.
Tim Brocklehurst told us of how he came about the idea for
his Viral Spiral… from cricket balls! A fascinating
story, and what a well spoken gent he is too.
Some of sat around discussing Robert Cialdini book ‘The
psychology of persuasion’, Which I’m currently reading
thanks to David Congreave loaning it to me… A really good
read and highly recommended!
At some point a bunch of the experts decided to head to
Birmingham for a night on the town, more so to give the
people from other countries a chance to see a UK city I
think.
The rest of us stayed in the private bar til it closed….
the cheek of it!!
Not to worry – the main residents bar was still open, and
thus a good few of us made our way there.
It was only our second night for many of us – but already
we were growing familiar with each others company and
relaxing…. that was great as it lead to some real
entertaining conversations.
Some of which I can’t repeat….lol
Tina Lindgren came over from Denmark and was concerned at
being in a strange place and not knowing anyone….. She
soon proved to be one of the party crowd…. what a lovely
lady.
Other usual suspects were all there too, Andy, Tahir, Paul
Matt, and many more. I mention their names as they were the
late stayers….
There were plenty to start with but as the evening went on
our numbers depleted….
By 4.45am there was just Matt and I left…. I think it was
sometime around now we discussed his LazyGit product which
I’ve mentioned on my blog and by email….. but this
isn’t about promotion, so go look for the link if you want
(cool product). We also got into some fascinating
discussions about quantum physics and have exchanged a few
emails and links since.
We decided we’d be better behaved this evening, and not
drink as late, so we called it a night. We could at least try
and get more sleep than the previous night….
I think Matt may have been feeling he’d had enough to
drink when he exchanged his sisters phone number for half a
plate of sandwiches with a non IM resident at the
bar….lol
(Hey apparently – the guy and Matt’s sister are getting on
great) pmsl
And those sandwiches were flippin nice!
Anyway – That’s the end of Day Two, and I did get some
sleep, I hit my pillow at 4.52am looking forward to a good
2 hours plus before the alarms summoned me for day three.
To Be Continued………..

Hi Randy,
I just wanted to say how much I’m enjoying your posts about the Britpack seminar, so much has gone on since then it now feels like months since we all met up.
It’s like re-living it all over again except without the sleep deprivation and headaches!
Looking forward to the next chapter.
All the best,
