* Catch Up, back from hols

Hi All, …How are you?
I’d bet all the UK readers are looking forward to this last week of the school holidays…lol

Rachel, myself and her two girls got back from our week away on Friday… and what a shame it was to come home :)

We all had a great time on holiday (Vacation).
We did some simple things like playing in the sand and sea on the beach. Discovering shells and sea life in the rock pools and waters edge.

And we had some lovely evenings watching some live shows ranging from magic shows to singers, comedians, circus performers and dancers, as well as a few disco dancing partys for the girls with all their favourite party tunes.

And we mustn’t forget 3 days of trips around shops!!! (Actually – it wasn’t that bad thankfully… in fact Rachel doesn’t like shopping with me much as I like to browse everything, and she just wants to buy stuff…lol)

One thing I did notice was how much ‘Marketing’ is done on holiday!
It seems as though every show, every event and every bit of fun that was planned for the children involved some form of upsell!

Be it photos with the stars, soft toys of the kids fav characters, even spray on tattoos related to the events!
(These guys know how to design fun to make money!- AND they know the psychology of getting the kids to emotionally blackmail parents into spending money time after time…lol)

So now we’re home and there were 3500 emails to get through! I only answered support tickets that needed answering while I was away, as I promised not to spend all my time on the pc!

The downside being that it creates a new habit of doing nothing…lol

So now it’s taken me all weekend just to catch up and get through my emails… and try to force myself into spending more time at the pc again! – So hopefully by tomorrow I’ll be back up to my 3 hours a day or more…hehe

OH – BEFORE I FORGET
I’ll be confirming the numbers for the Northallerton Meet Up sometime today or tomorrow…

So I’ll need anyone who was thinging of coming to get their booking made asap :)

For future ref – here is the notification list:
http://randysmith.co.uk/NorthallertonMeets/

And for booking a place for this Saturday 4th Sept:
http://randysmith.co.uk/NorthallertonMeets/booking.html

So please get booked as soon as you can so I have accurate numbers for the landlady of the venue :)
Cheers

Right – back to online stuff I suppose?
While I was away I had a ticket letting me know that 7 of the 40+ download links in next months updates for
http://www.MoreMonthly.com were corrupted or not working.

Those have now been re-uploaded so they should be fine now. I’ve also been asked if people can somehow get access to the previous 300+ downloads.
So I will be trying to set a page up for that with a one off price for all.

Meanwhile – In this email I have a mentioned some (not all) of the things that caught my attention in the heaps of emails I’ve been through since we got back….

Starting with another ‘don’t buy recommendation’ to save you wasting your ca$h!
In case you missed my last email – I mentioned that one sale that was on before I went away was for products that have been around for 2 years… and yet they still pitched it like it was an exclusive offer!!

Randy

=====

* Another Don’t Buy… am I too late?

One of the things I saw promoted a heck of a lot while I was away was something with the initials ATA

Straight away I noticed one big name I respect (Kevin Riley) promote it and say how great it sounded….
Only to get another email explaining that he felt he should let people know about it as part of his service to subscribers…BUT that he wouldn’t be using it himself due top the ‘shady’ aspects of it???
That lit up the warning lights straight away for me!
So on getting home and seeing an email from one of our reader
(Thanks Sandra)
Where she had bought the product and wrote:

“Dear Randy,
I bought the ATA and have just asked for a refund,
I feel that this is going to get all that use it
banned from Face book as soon as the method is discovered.

I don’t like using illegal means to generate traffic,
I will say they explained  how to make ads in face book
and plenty of fish very well but I can foresee
many affiliates getting into trouble with this..

They did not say what it was until after buying it.
Its all about uploading a script to your hosting and
cloaking your url so face book staff approve your ad
I have had emails from everyone asking me to buy this
even Tony Shepherd who I thought would have more sense

Regards
Sandra “

And This One JUST IN as I was about to post:

“Hi Randy

I don’t know if you’ll get this and see it before it comes off sale if it does! Yes I bought ata as well plus the upsell to Affiliate website. I have asked questions to all the owners of these sites and received no response and I agree that FB won’t belong before they wake up too so I’m going for  a refund on both,

Bob”

I must admit I was surprised to see Tony Shepherd‘s name mentioned? As well as Kevins, the marketer I saw the email from initially.
I have to admit I was pleased to see another good guy, whom I’ve promoted in the past,  Stuart Turnbull, steer well clear and even sent a video out to his lists warning against it.

You can see that here:
http://www.saturnbull.com/video/buyerbeware.htm

So although I’ve not bought and checked the product, On the strength of what I’ve seen from people I respect and trust – I would certainly steer clear myself and recommend you are careful if you were considering it!

Hope that helps
Randy

* Feedback on last recommendations

I had a few people buy Dr.Mani’s “Think Write Retire”
http://randysmith.co.uk/recommends/DrMani
And email me with praises for it, and only one say it wasn’t for them.

And with the ca$h going to a good cause I was happy that most people liked it.

www.EmpireAvenue.com/randy is still confusing me a little as
to what it’s for other than having some fun with and making some new
connections – but then I suppose that is what social sites are about …lol

I am happy to pop in and have a play as it is a good source of backlinks to my sites, and it is free ;)

A couple of the other offers I mentioned have now finished,
But one that I have a permanent link for a $20 saving is the one for Dave Nicholsons Your Own Software Site
http://www.yoursoftwarewebsite.com/

As mentioned – If you’d like an easy software website of your own with links to some CB products as well as some of your own… This is an easy one to set up AND the link I gave has a $20 discount off the normal full price

Personally – I would use this as an extra site to link from my blog etc. Rather than hoping to generate all my income from it, and as such I believe it could and would make a good ‘extra’ income for those who grab it.

That just leaves me to mention anything new I am impressed with…..
See Below:

=====

* New Recommendations & A New Freebie Added!

I’m gonna miss out all the big name big promos (as I really haven’t had chance to check them out)

Instead I’ll make mention of two links below… unrelated but worthy of a mention:

The first is for one of John Thornhills products:
Profit From PLR

This now sells for $97 on clickbank….BUT – I have a link with a $60 discount!
So if you wanted to watch John show you step by step what he does with PLR you can grab this course for just $37 from this link:
http://randysmith.co.uk/discounted/profitPLR

The other one to mention is really cheap at only $10 …BUT – it’s a great report from James Penn who I’ve seen rise from teenager to experienced 20 yr old making more in his part time than his uni course will net him once he’s finished…lol

It’s called “Six Figure Sales Machine.” and details how he’s built up his own 6 figure business step by step.

http://randysmith.co.uk/recommends/JamesPenn6Figures

The report is very detailed and nice and clear, so I’m sure many of my reader and you would benefit from it.

Finally - I’ve added a new freebie to the subscriber gifts page:
(You need to be a subscriber to access it)

It’s a report on content syndication.
Basically getting your links on other cool high ranking sites.
It does pitch a plugin that will automate the process, (which I have started using myself) – but the content will teach you what is involved even if you don’t want to buy the plugin. (I must admit – I like just pushing the button and having it all done for me…lol)

So there you have it… My catch up, and my own attempt at getting back into the swing of things…lol
(if you ever thought reading my rambles was a lengthy task…. imagine writing them! ..hehe)

Here’s to a great September for all of us  :)

Right – back to yet more emails and hopefully some work
(If I can get fully back into the swing…lol)
And don’t forget to get booked to pop along to the Northallerton Meet Up If You’re close enough :)

(Not the stuff that Might One Day!)****

Til next time
To You and Yours,

* Catch Up

Here’s hoping you’re having a great week :)
I’m about to head off for a BBQ with Rachel and some friends and family.
But before I did I wanted to get this post out. Yep – working on a Sunday again…lol
(when I wrote and emailed this…lol)

I don’t normally like to work on a Sunday – But as well as Dr.Mani’s link now being live, I had some updates that had to get done.
(Especially as Rachel and I are taking the girls to the seaside for a weeks holiday on Friday!)

I finally managed to finish moving all my downloads (nearly a thousand) from http://www.MoreMonthly.com onto some space at Amazon S3!
It’s taken weeks – but will save me a heap of cash on the hosting.
The site was so big it needed a dedicated server of it’s own!
And with already having one for http://www.WizardResponderPro.com
I didn’t want to be paying for another.. So now we will be downsizing our other sites to a smaller hosting account while keeping the dedicated server for WizardResponder!

(All our sites would have fit on the same one – but Pete and I are very aware that we didn’t want anything to upset the delivery rates of our clients email marketing… hence we keep Wizard completely separate!)

Anyways – other than that I have been doing a lot of blog hopping, as I’m sure a few of my readers will have noticed, as part of the 100 blog challenge I’ve mentioned.
http://creatingmybusinessonline.com/the-100-blog-comment-challenge/

It was great to see people like John Thornhill and Jim Cockrum mention this too… so it’s going really well for all who’ve joined in!
(Not too late if you would like the extra free traffic!)

I’ve also joined a new social site that I’ll mention further down…
But first things first – check the next section and go spend the $20 I told you to earmark (I know… cheeky git aren’t I?)

* “Dollars for Pennies, Diamonds for Coal!”

Re:
http://randysmith.co.uk/recommends/DrMani

Dr.Mani’s link is live….
Here are more details about it
(Just so you know it can and will help you as well as the kids with CHD!)

This was difficult to create – but it turned out ok!

He started out with a $1,997.00 home study program.

Kept the most critical core concepts intact.  Modified some of the content so that it summarized most of the material.
Addressed every single major concern the bigger program deals with.
All this so that the condensed version, though not as thorough and powerful as the full program, still packs a pretty punch!

Why did he bother?
Because for some people who need this coaching, $1,997 is simply too much.

Like you, most of my subscribers and clients KNOW that products and services I recommend are worth the price – and more.
But even if it IS ‘value for money’, sometimes there simply isn’t enough money left to get it!
You may have other expenses.  Stuff takes priority.  Maybe you’ve even got your eye on another product to buy!

If that’s YOU, I still don’t want you to miss out.
But if a low 4-figure price-tag is out of your budget, then grab this special deal – because you’ll get most of the value at a TINY fraction of the cost!

It’s DOLLARS for Pennies, DIAMONDS for Coal!

P.S. As mentioned last time, I received a review copy from Dr.Mani – but I’ve just been and paid for one too! I really want to know that as this product helps me, I’m helping some poor kids live a life they couldn’t have!
http://randysmith.co.uk/recommends/DrMani

=====

* BUY ME…lol – A Fun Social Site :)

This is new to me, so I’m not sure how much it will benefit us as yet….
But Dr.Mani recommended it so I took a look:)

It’s a new social site that is fr’ee to join. AND – it’s yet more links back to my sites,
(So it can’t be a bad thing)
What makes it somewhat fun is that you can buy  and sell shares in each other (NOT real ca$h!!)

It also links up with your twitter and facebook feeds etc.

So initially I think it’s another chance as some publicity for free, backlinks, and a way to waste a few minutes that might actually benefit us from making more contacts and getting more traffic.
The site is called Empire Avenue, here’s my link:
http://www.empireavenue.com/randy

Be sure to endorse my blog and buy some shares in me…lol
And here is Dr.Mani’s link as he mentioned it to me in the first place:
http://www.empireavenue.com/drmani

I see he’s worth more than me already…hehe But hey – I now own a piece of him…lol
Check it out if you have some time to kill, as i said – I’m not sure how valuable the backlinks will be yet but it doesn’t cost anything but time, so it may be worth a play ;)

* New Giveaway Site Helping Kids – Contribute & Build Your List!

Hey, I know you’re busy, and I know I’ve already mentioned Dr.Mani a heap today….but please read this!
(Yes most of it is copy and pasted – but it’s all true and can benefit you as well as the Kids with CHD!)

I wanted to make sure you had an opportunity to participate in this special event, especially after you hear the whole story. Don’t miss this. This is one of those times you can help yourself and feel really great about it!

Plus you’ll save lives.

Kids lives.

You can have the satisfaction of knowing that you -yes, you - have saved a kid’s life today. These children have fatal heart diseases that require open heart surgery to survive.

But, these kids are incredibly lucky because they’re in great hands – yours. And you are even luckier because you’ll have the satisfaction of saving lives first, feeling the warmth that comes with having a huge impact on real lives.

And if that’s not enough, you’ll also have the opportunity to drive traffic to your websites, build your lists and make upsells for additional income.

There’s an ancient Greek philosophy called “Enlightened Self Interest”. Basically, it translates into: What’s good for you is good for me, so I’ll always do good for you first.

Here’s your chance. Don’t believe me, take a look at Dr. Mani Sivasubramanian.

You do know Dr. Mani, right?

If you’ve been online for any time at all as an information marketer or student of online marketing, you’ve probably heard of Dr. Mani or purchased some of his products. He’s one of the most successful and respected information marketers, coaches and sought-after instructors working today.

And If You’ve read my numerous mentions of him, you also know that he is a practicing pediatric surgeon in Chennai, India?

And did you know that he has raised more than $137,200 from donors and portions of his profits to sponsor heart operations for more than 70 children with congenital heart defects?

And did you know that the Niche Affiliate Marketing Workshop (the fastest growing internet marketing workshop in the U.S. today) has adopted Dr. Mani’s foundation as the focus of a listbuilding and joint venture workshop during the week of NAMS4?

From Aug. 20 to Aug. 27, 2010, we plan to raise at least $10,000 that will go to the foundation to directly fund open heart surgery on at least 7 children.

Here’s the thing:

You can help drive traffic to this monster giveaway to encourage folks to donate to the Dr.Mani Children Heart Foundation with just a couple of emails.

Here’s what super-fundraiser Beth Kanter says about Dr. Mani:

“Dr. Mani is simply amazing in his passion and dedication
to his cause. His knowledge and ideas about personal fund
raising have also helped and inspired many other people -
like me.”

We’re expecting more than a million emails to go out that week to promote this event. You can step in front of that stream of traffic by joining us today.
Contribute a product to the event to drive traffic to your website and build your list.
And you’ll be in great company with these contributors who’ve already signed on:

How are you? – I’m hoping you’re well, and I hope you checked out the 100 Blog Challenge?
http://creatingmybusinessonline.com/the-100-blog-comment-challenge/

I’ve been blog hopping all week, and I’m amazed at some of the great posts I’ve come across!
I’ve also met some new people who may go on to become good friends… so although it takes a little time – for me the benefits far outweigh the time it takes to make new friends.

PLUS – as a by, the extra traffic I’m getting is nice too…lol

Don’t worry – I’ve not been working too hard ;)
I just neglected other activities…hehe

Actually – I had two days practically stuck at home and suffering with a tummy bug :( (not nice at all)….
Thankfully that’s cleared up now so I thought I’d write on a Sunday evening to catch up a little.

OH – and I got my new glasses too!
Or was that over a week ago?… Either way I’m getting used to them now (Varifocals) – around $350 for a pair of specs!!!
It seems I have to wear them all the time now and not just for reading (I guess I’m getting older)

On the home front, I’ve had time off to ‘babysit’ Cameron due to the school holidays, and time out for some social fun with Rachel… (see – how could I fit much work in?)

But I have kept up as ever with my emails and support tickets…
Well mainly www.WizardResponderPro.com questions and customer support, I did leave a couple of JV requests unanswered for a couple of days.
I also wasted a good few hours changing all the passwords and login info for www.GuruBypass.com admin – as it seems we had a visit from a skilled
marketer who has no scruples!
He managed to hack into the site and use the mailer to send a promo for some PPV program (I sincerely hope no one visited it)

I did get an email to let me know, so it was just the one…. But the clever ‘BarSteward’ (me trying to write illegitimate person) had deleted my own membership – so I didn’t receive a copy of the email or I would have acted sooner!
(That knocked my confidence in the LFM script)
Oh well – what’s done is done and is now rectified – and I hope you knew it wasn’t me if you got one of the emails… I NEVER sign ADMIN, I always am happy to sign my name to my emails!
(Future hackers take note if you’re on my lists! – You might be clever but it’s short term… Use your skills for good and you might make your mothers proud!)

Anyway – I’m rambling already and I have some important stuff below, so I’d best get on with it  ;)
Let’s see if we can’t save you from wasting some of your online budget and give you some news of where it might be better invested!

* A Genuine Review Of Mobile Monopoly

I saw this product being promoted by so many people, I figured it had to be a major launch!
And with reports of doing over a million and a half last week already – it seems it is…lol

Now I was invited to JV on it – BUT…All I had seen was the prelaunch videos – and they are fantastic… what a great presales job!
I was very tempted to promote it as it all made so much sense… or at least the sales pitch did!

BUT
Yep – a large one..

I then started asking some more techy people what they thought of it?
When Martin Brock (www.vtctalk.com) wrote a full review on the warrior forum my eyes opened !

So much so that I asked Martin if I could steal his review and use it to show my readers!
He’s a tech and doesn’t yet have an IM site, but you can follow him on twitter here:
http://twitter.com/martin_brock

Anyway – here are his words:

I actually spent a few hours on this review, so I hope it is ok that I post a new thread about it.

I apologize for the poor grammar/writing – I wrote it very fast.
As I stated in the other thread, I am only reviewing this product because a friend of mine bought two of this guy’s previous products. I paid for this one myself, and I will be refunding it out of sheer principle. I would have refunded the two others as well if I had paid for them.

There are 11 modules and some extra videos in the members’ area.

Module 1 – A lot of mobile stats and data in this one, most of which should not be surprising to most people who regularly follow industry news.

Module 2 – In this module he seems to go on and on about sending traffic to mobile optimized squeeze pages. What if 30 people converts, then I just made $150”, “this can really start to add up”, “Alright so I send them a Clickbank offer, and boom” – that last one is just classic, timeless relationship building advice! (I hope you can detect the irony). He goes on with “I get a huge list that I can market to forever”, “CPA stands for..” and so on..

He keeps talking about his conversion rate, and various numbers, and how much money you can potentially make, and yet fails to explain how to accomplish it – is it by any chance because sending traffic straight to affiliate links is THE most fragile business model in existence? The rest of video 2 contains more pipe dreams and “think of the possibilities” moments, again without any tangible, actionable direction.

Module 3 – Here he explains how the interfaces of the ad platforms work again peppered with regular “just think of the possibilities” moments (sorry if I repeat myself, but monkey see, monkey do, or whatever the appropriate saying is in this context.. I am speed writing here! – this is very basic stuff.

Module 4 – More from the same drawer – and then the big secret is revealed. I don’t even own a cell phone, and even I know that a mobile browser is different from a standard browser. At this point the “just think about how much money you can make” filler is getting more than unbearable.

Module 5 – “Clickbank is amazing, you can make a lot of money with it” that is not an exact quote, but close. He spends a long time explaining the basics, and includes regular mentions of “big money”. He also talks about his squeeze page software – which comes at additional cost (67/month) – but he never provides any tangible proof that the squeeze pages presenting the mobile offers are the true source of his income, or that they have any sort of real effect.

Module 6– In this one he shows how to get affiliate links from Amazon in order to sell physical products as an affiliate – the most creative part about this module is the title: “let’s get physical”. I noted that his account shows no sales activity. This is generally another uninteresting video that covers very basic stuff.

Module 7 – In this module he explains how to get pay per call offers. Pay per call is really just another way of tracking an affiliate sale, but through a phone number instead of an affiliate URL. Again, the information provided is very basic “how to find an offer” interspersed with even more “easy, easy money” comments, but no real guidance or insight is offered.

Module 8 – In this one, the “just think about the possibilities” moment deals with mobile marketing for local businesses. Sure, you could go out and manage mobile campaigns for local businesses – they may not be tech savvy, but you can be sure they want to know exactly what they get from their advertising dollars. And what do they get? Is there even enough volume to support very specific local offers through mobile advertising? He just mentions this as an idea, one of many, that is not supported by anything tangible in the form of how to do it, or what results he has accomplished (I know what my guess is).

I did see the remaining videos, but found no reason to mention anything further about them.

Oh, except the Iphone app module. That was the first video that actually made me laugh out loud. Again, completely in line with the rest of the product – he talks about possibilities and potential, and how a lot of people make a killing with apps – but again – with no with real direction.

I will just let these links speak for themselves:
So, You Want To Develop iPhone Apps, Eh? You REALLY Want To Read This! Dvorak Uncensored: General interest observations and true web-log.
Is The Rush To Develop iPhone Apps Creating A Bubble? | mocoNews

And a quote from one of the articles:

Supercollider Blog reports on several levels of paid app downloads, the relevant number is that half of all paid iPhone apps get less than 1,000 downloads. The median point is under 1,000. Lets call it 999. That number times $1.95 per paid app gives the ‘most typical app’ the total revenues in its lifetime – the full two years of App Store existence – of $1,948 dollars. This is before Apple takes its cut of 30%, so we are left with $1,363 over two years or $682 per year. This is so ‘successful’ that half of all of the developers of the 164,250 apps – will actually earn LESS THAN THIS. Before you start to cry, remember, there is that Angry Bird game that had 4 million paid downloads and the Bewelled 2 game with 3 million paid downloads. Thats your math there, they are totally skewing the averages, and you are stuck in the ‘long tail’ indeed. Half of all developers will earn less than $682 per year. Do you still think this is a good business idea?

The overall verdict

There is a lot of filler and basic stuff where he spends time on the usual suspects; Clickbank, what is CPA offers, and so on. “Clickbank pays high commissions” and “Amazon pays lower commission”.

Most of the content has been regurgitated in 100s if not 1000s of products since. The few things he mentions that some people may not have heard of (such as pay per call) are covered in an extremely superficial way.

He almost never (if at all) mention aspects of real online marketing (relationship building, improving conversion rates, pre-selling) – stuff that is vital – but maybe that is because that sort of thing requires real EFFORT which would be more than 99% of his intended audience bargained for (judging by the sales letter). To fill out the holes it is apparently much easier to just have tons of “how to sign up for Clickbank” videos – yes, I think that is actually a title of one of the videos.

In regards to getting low CPCs – you can not by any standard compare the CPC of display ads and search ads. Getting a positive ROI is by no means guaranteed just because you get clicks at just a few cents. As an example, it is relatively easy to get clicks from Google (Adsense), and a number of other platforms from 3-10 cents (I have nothing for sale here or anywhere else), in some markets higher. I have done that several times. The key however, is conversion, as most of us know. And on top of that, it seems that most people are paying much more than the few cents he talks about.

He does not go in and show concrete tangible examples of winning campaigns – sure he has “proven” campaigns. But anyone who knows anything knows that any CPA network or affiliate network will throw their best performing campaigns at you like they were dead rodents (I realize that was a pathetic analogy . No solid proof that he makes money from the mobile offers is ever presented – why does only Clickbank and Paypal earnings show on the sales page? He is particularly generous in showing his Clickbank earnings in the sales videos. But he does not navigate to the pages in his various accounts that show proof of earnings in the videos inside the members’ area. For someone who likes to talk so much about how much money he makes WHY does he not show any real tangible results achieved promoting these offers? And why do all screenshots/videos that involve his campaigns show all campaigns on pause?

As someone else have already hinted – which is completely on par with my own sentiments – is the fact that you get a very distinct feeling that the author is not actually applying most of these things, he just explains the “potential” and how this is “easy money”, and adds in various random potential earning scenarios, conversion rates and so on. A critical voice might infer that the results shown on the sales page could very well come from sales of his previous “make money online” offers in Clickbank (which also supports Paypal), and not from real b2c affiliate marketing offers on mobile phones. The author has so far been unresponsive in terms of submitting the proof I emailed him for.

In reality, it is not as easy as he makes it out – as also already pointed out earlier in the thread by someone who is doing it – and several other posters who have posted results from their campaigns. And those who make the wildest claims, including the author, does not seem to want to or be able to provide irrefutable evidence of their alleged quick, easy, and significant earnings.

Now – I could probably write another 5-10 pages about this product easily. But the time I have already spent is more than enough time wasted. I think is a shame that this type of product can “break through” in these circles. Of course, people can get a refund – but they can not get their time back, and the money invested in campaigns that don’t produce results.

And if this is by any means the industry standard, a lot of people will end up in a cycle where they jump from one quick fix to another because the product is carefully constructed to give the illusion that it does really work with no effort required…”but just not for me”. And so, the story repeats itself with no one the wiser because “quick fix” authors refuse or lack the skills to educate people on the true principles of Internet marketing.

* Better Places To Invest in This Week

Well now we’ve seen that we might not want to believe the hype follow the mass sales just because other have….
I figured I’d best mention a couple of sites that I believe are worthy of a serious look:

The first is available now and provides some great options:

In fact as part of my own testimonial for Rob I wrote:
“If people study your blueprints, I’m sure they may find
that they lean towards something they may not have thought
of before….. And yet they find so much more fun, and profitable!”

http://randysmith.co.uk/recommends/12roads

Rob’s course is actually a complete set of 12 business blueprints that will take you to business success in a series of easy to follow steps.

Robert shows you how you can use very simple and cheap solutions to sell more products to a very targeted audience who will return to you to buy time and time again.

Complete with pdf and videos, Using the information in 12 Roads to Success you can build a series of low cost start up businesses that will provide you with an income for years. Or choose one or two that you may not have thought of before to focus on.

At the silly low price (with no hidden extras) I would suggest taking a look for yourself:

http://randysmith.co.uk/recommends/12roads

I hope you find this recommendation useful :)

My Second recommendation would be to grab a bargain that will help Children with CHD…

Yep – Every once in a while I try my best to send some traffic to Dr.Mani’s sites like:
http://www.chdinfo.com/chdaware/howdonate.htm

But today – I’m actually promoting one of Dr.Mani’s products

It doesn’t launch til the 15th,
but I wanted to get you to earmark $19.95 now so you can grab a bargain and help save a child ;)

When Dr.Mani’s “Think, Write & Retire” launched on Amazon.com, it raced up the charts to hit #83 in the Business & Investing category within 16 hours!
This book was written for a worthy cause, one that I believe you will want to get behind, too.
You see, ALL profits from the book launch were donated to his Children Heart Foundation, to sponsor a child’s life-saving treatment.
Over the years, the Foundation has raised over $130,000 and sponsored SEVENTY surgeries up to now.

Think, Write & Retire
Will be available as a digital ebook from the 15th August 2010 that can be instantly downloaded – and I hope this will raise even more money to help more kids live!
Like a ripple, word will spread – and a lot of folks are already excited about this launch. (hopefully I beat them to it in telling you well in advance)
By buying your copy on the 15th, you’ll help raise money to heal a child’s heart.

Will you do it, please?

There’s also another reason I’d like you to buy your copy…
You’ll Get Over $120 In Gifts & Bonuses!
Get your copy on the 15th August from here:

=> http://randysmith.co.uk/recommends/DrMani

Oh, and please tell your friends too.

Thank you :)
Best wishes

Randy
P.S. – The Good Dr. will have an upsell… Your choice to look at it or not, all I can say is it will be a great product!
(He doesn’t do hyped up fluffy stuff!!)

P.P.S. - If it helps, I have a review copy of this BUT.. I’ll still go and buy it again because I want to know I helped too!
AND the product is easily worth more than the cost!

P.P.P.S. Dr.Mani just recommended I look at EmpireAvenue.com (a new sort of social site),  So I have looked and joined (More details in my next post) – but I need to add this code EAVB_DTILRUXZEC  in order to activate my blog feed :) (so now that’s done…lol and my profile is http://www.empireavenue.com/randy)

* Warning – Guru’s Are Like Governments!

A little different format in this post, No Catch Up today as I’m just going off on a ‘Ramble’ :)

First a disclaimer:
The views and opinions expressed in this post are just those of myself, Randy Smith, they are not based on any factual research and I don’t have any proven statistics to share. I’m not a lawyer, politician or super rich marketer! I am just expressing an opinion that could be extremely flawed and I invite anyone to comment and disagree if they should wish to.
Also – I am not intending to make (nor will I allow) any comments that lead to anyone being singled out for any slanderous remarks of hate campaigns…

There – now that’s out of the way let me tell you what I was thinking this morning as I started to write this post.
(and do bear in mind that I’m writing this off the cuff – so I may ramble off on a few tangents, as I do have a habit of doing that ;) )

So why do I think Guru’s are like Governments?

Well let’s start with what I believe is a common trait among governments:
And I am generalising here….

I think we all think at some time or other that the givernment seems to be filled with politicians who are only interested in self preservation don’t we?
You see I love the American quote of  “A Government of the people, For the people, By the people”. That sounds so cool and I think it’s what we’d all like to have.
What we believe we actually get in our varying ‘democratic’ systems though – would seem more like a bunch of people who care more about keeping their ‘money people’ happy…. the backers and fund raisers who smooth their way to office.

And once in office – it would also seem to me that regardless of which side they are ‘supposed’ to be on, a lot of the people we put into power spend a lot of their time ‘looking after each other’!

How many times have we in the UK seen politicians who are in opposition to the goverment of the day end up with titles, well paid speakinmg engagements, fancy highly paid jobs in Europe, etc. etc.
And how many times have we ever seen a government sit together, regardless of political views, and actually debate the fact that they claim to want to serve their country and that is their reason for doing their job….
Something along the lines of – “Hey – I want to serve my country more than anything, and I’ve just realized that I don’t need a second mortgage paid for from tax payers money, or the huge salary I get, or the first class airline tickets I can claim to save me taking a train at a quarter the cost to attend a meeting…. therefore I vote that we all take a pay cut to leave more cash for Pensioners, Hospitals, Our Armed forces who are dying daily to protect our freedoms (*and lets not even debate whether our brave forces are fighting to maintain our freedom or to gain rebuilding contracts in oil rich countries some would like more control over!)….
So lets. all agree to pay ourselves what the ‘Average’ man or woman would earn”

After all – who decides what is the most important job in the country?
The doctor who saves lives with his skills?, The Soldier who puts his life on the line for us all?, The Firefighters who risk their safety to rescue others?…. well how about the refuse collector without whom we’d have disease rising due to poor sanitation as rubbish builds up on our streets and vermin start infesting our homes?… How about the salesman who brings in orders to keep a factory full or workers employed manufacturing products he’s sold?…. Or what about the Teachers who nurture our youth so they too many become valued members of society contributing their tax dollars for the benefit off all?

My point being that each and every job that anyone does is equally important to society as a whole… well in my opinion it is!
So if our politicians really wanted to help – would they not universally decide to pay themselves enough to get by on with a little extra for luxuries, to take the cheapest forms of transport to meetings, to rent a small house near government buildings if they really needed to be close by and their constituencies were too far away to travel (instead of using taxpayers money to fund a mortgage that they could then profit from when voted out of office) ???

Heck – even at lower levels of public service, How many ‘Public Servants’ get an allowance for lunch and end up bringing a packed lunch so they have more in their wage packets, and how many send the extra cash back due to the savings they make by prepared their packed lunches?…lol

In fact – let’s get really political for just a moment:

How many people who would do all of the above would ever stand a chance of being voted into power?
I think it’s safe to say that they wouldn’t get sufficient funding to even be noticed come election time….
Can you imagine the scenario?

Here we are reporting live from the elections for our countries new leader:

Standing today is the candidate for the right, backed by his/her huge political party and a budget of $500,000 for media coverage and advertising coming from the business owners and shareholders of the city…
Opposing him today we also have the candidate from the left, backed by his/her huge political party and a budget of $500,000 for media coverage and advertising coming from the trade unions and workers of the city…
And finally we have Mrs. I. M. Nobody, backed by the ladies of the village ‘people power committee’ and a budget of $257.24 for media coverage and advertising, raised from local garage sales of brickabrack and home made apple pies with a few posters drawn by the children of the village school!

Now let me think – Oh, lets all vote for Mrs Nobody ‘cos we saw the poster and immense press coverage she got from saying she just wants to help….. But wait… Darn it she needs to stand in every constituency to actually get sufficient votes to gain power… oh well – maybe next year she can get a few friends standing and form a political party….lol

OK – Enough on the Governments, I’ll move on to the Guru’s with these final words about our beloved politicains:
1 – I once saw some graffitti in a public toilet that has stayed with me all my life….
“No Matter Who You Vote For – The Government Always Win!’
2 - Regardless of everything I’ve said, I’d still rather live in a democratic country with all it’s flaws, greedy politicians, and rogues… than to even comtemplate living under the circumstances so many in the world have to endure!

So yes – I believe our system in severly flawed… but it’s still so much better than many alternatives and I’m grateful for that!

So how are the Guru’s like Governments?

Well I suppose I better explain where the idea of this post came from, and how my strange rambling mind came up with the idea of writing it….
It’s based on something I’ve thought for a long time due to my own position in marketing online.

I’ve been online for around ten years now, failed miserably for the first five chasing all the get rich quick schemes, and then finally learned from my failures and was lucky enough to find a mentor or two who taught me a great deal…. and from then on I’ve done OK.
I started doing well in 2005, and after my offline business failure caused my banruptcy in late 2006 I got the kick in the pants I needed to make all of my living online.
I’ve met and made friends with a lot of marketers, and one criticism they’ve always offered – is that I care too much and sell myself too cheap. But once they get to know me they accept that I have different motivations to most.

I know a lot are money motivated, and that’s fine by me – each to their own.
For me, I love the internet for the freedom it gives me. I’ve had a career in sales and sales management where I had the 6 figure salary  - but I also had the hours and constraints that went with it… So I already know that it’s not the money that brings happiness for me… it’s the freedom of time to enjoy the passions of my life that do it for me :)
That said – I will never criticise anyone who is in it for the money! – They work a lot harder than I do …lol
(and naturally a certain amount of money is need to enjoy the time freedom I crave!)

But what I think I can moan and rant about is when the money becomes the most important thing to them!
Again – don’t get me wrong … if they make it perfectly clear that that’s their only interest from the off – then that’s fine…

But here’s where I think many are like governments:
A great example popped up today on facebook, and that got me thinking about one of my mentors blog posts from a few days ago, which then lead me on to thinking about how some of them operate their business models….

I did say my mind wanders off on some tangents didn’t I? …lol

Tell you what – let me quote (ish) without naming names, ‘cos as I said, each to their own and far be it for me to dictate how anyone should run their lives or business….
But I can have my opinions, and if sharing them helps someone else to find a good mentor, or at least decide what sort of mentor they’d like, then I feel justified in expressing my views :) (so there…hehe)

Here’s what I saw on facebook:
A Big Name Marketer (GURU) Asked if anyone knew of a high converting, money making offer he could promote, as he didn’t want to waste any valuable clicks on stuff that doesn’t sell so well!

What followed was around 40 replies by other Gurus/Big Names with big lists all quoting which offers were making the most money!
One even suggested an offer I’ve promoted myself in the past – which happens to be a freebie with a one time offer on the back end. This is a great program because even just taking the freebie is very helpful to a lot of newbies… However – it was rejected NOT because the quality of it wasn’t a great help – but because it didn’t make enough money!!

My personal reply was long the lines of:
“Well I guess this confirms I’ve always done things wrong….lol
There’s me looking at products and launches that I believe will benefit my subscribers, with no regard to how much I’ll make…..
So the lesson for wannabe gurus is to look at the bottom line!
Personally – I stick to my way cos I’m too lazy to look at all the figures…lol”

Again – let me emphasize that I’m not here to tell anyone who makes more than me, works harder than I do, and has a different business model than I do, how they should run their business…..

BUT - (and here’s another tangent)
It all reminded me of one of my own mentors whom I hold in very high regard, John Thornhill.
You see John is in business to make money, and he is considered by many to be a top UK marketer/Guru (though he hates the title himself)
He also runs one of the best coaching programs I’ve seen, where a heck of a lot of his students end up finally acheiving the success they were searching for, and he has a $4.95 trial available for that… You can check it out here and see the bonsues I’m offering anyone who joins here … because I know John, have been helped by him, and I know a lot of his successful students – hence my massive bonus as a bribe to stay on the course after the trial…. either way – it’;s nice to take a trial before committing these days ;) (In fact – here is a free report from John you can take right now, called Why You’ll Never Succeed Online No Optin Required!)

So back to John and his business model:
Like I mentioned – John doesn’t hide the fact that he is online to make money… heck he came from a background of doing a mundane, labor intensive, repetitive job in a car factory, to online guru status …. But…
What John does when he’s promoting isn’t to see what is converting best and giving the best dollars per click!

He looks for products that he believes will help his subscribers first…
Then – When he does promote, it’s rare to see him send a straight forward email just pitching the product… NO – He actually tries to show examples of different marketing elements incorporated into the product or salespage, and uses those to highlight a lesson that can be taken from just looking at the promotion!

Which on reflection is very clever (and shows why he deserves his guru title) – because even those who don’t buy are benefiting from John showcasing the product! (and clever – because it means a lot more people will take a look – so his sales end up being on the higher conversion side of things...lol)

To me – that represents the politician who does wnat to help his country…. Whereas the ones who just care about how much they’ll make represent those who are purely in it for themselves!

Worth noting also is the fact that John is happy to promote products that don’t carry a high ticket price and heaps of commissions JUST BECAUSE he believes they will be of benefit to his list…. And I can vouch for that personally , as John has promoted some of my products like MagicAuctionWords, Headpaint – both only $10 and hardly worth him mentioning, and  SalesLetterABC, my 10 Step Guide To Writing Sales Letters – which is too cheap, but hey, I set the price…lol, And Even WizardResponder which pays him a lot less than Aweber does… but again he promoted it because not everyone can afford the likes of Aweber, and John knows me personally and therefore knows WizardResponder to be a great service at an affodable rate!

(excuse the self promotion, but it did seem an apt time to make mention of some of my products…lol)

To demonstrate an example of another guru who is in it for the money, BUT – once again has his subscribers interest at heart too – is that of Lee McIntyre.
Lee doesn’t promote mush of anyones products but does have a lot of his own to shout about… But once again, rather than just pitch it like crazy and sell sell sell, he gains his customers by giving away immesly valuable content for free and encourage his affiliates to do the same, thereby winning the trust of subscribers and turnng them into customers of his paid for products…

A prime exaple is his latest free offer – A video training of How to make $7,230.95 in 30 days from scratch?, which he did …even though he had NO list, NO contacts and NO technical skills when he started in the IM niche!

I could go on and mention others who have my respect, people like Tony Shepherd, who also tends to teach people to enjoy life and only grab what they need rather than pitching every big earner going. And who also gives some great freebies first to gain trust and respect. Like his Quit Your Job In Ninety Days and his Perpetual Motion Marketing System.
I love Tony ‘cos we share the belief that life is for living with passion first and foremost!

Hey – I’ve got to stop with naming people I like and why or this post will never end…lol
Plus it started because I wanted to have a rant about those who only promote for the money with complete disregard to whether the product is of any use to their subscribers….

My Gripe with their model is mainly this:
They sound just like politicians… who tell us how we should be doing things, but then do everything themselves for completely different reasons!

Things like – they teach that we should all be helping people, giving good quality info and promoting products that will genuinely help our readers etc.
Then they get together and discuss how to maximize their profits by ignoring great products that don’t make as much cash, and promoting others that do (which incidentally, I’ve seen reviews of expressing opinions that they just aren’t worth the money!)
That tends to remind me of something my Dad would always say when he was caught out doing wrong…. “Son, do as I say not as I do!”

There are a lot of great people out there who are making a living online and (in my opinion) have some great business models that you could replicate… like the examples above – they each do things differently, but always do them with their subscribers interests first. So if you want to be a guru and make the big bucks, can I be cheeky and suggest you learn from these?
Or even check out some of the ‘friends’ links on my sidebar for others who share similar views?

Now I wont condemn you if you choose to follow the money and become like the gurus who only care about what percentage they’ll make,  as I’ve said – it’s their business and they make a heck of a lot more than I do, and work a heck of a lot harder too. And business is business at the end of the day….
But do we really have to join them in order to beat them?, Is the only way to make it big to become one of them and get their backing?, To tow the party line etc.

Between you and I – I’m always gonna think of them as being just like the government….
Telling us what’s best for us – whilst always watching their own backs and ensuring themselves and their buddies never suffer the fate of the rest of the nation!

So what do you think?
Are the majority of Guru’s just like the Government? – or am I just getting very synical with too many old fashioned values to survive in todays business world?
I’ll leave you to decide that for yourself!

Thanks for listening to my rant, and I hope I’ve caused you to look at all those emails you get with new eyes and ask yourself - “Are these guru’s really helping me?”
Just like the politicians, I guess our only option is to choose to follow those whose actions seem to us to best fit what we believe they should be doing!

For myself, I’ll continue promoting products I believe will help people regardless of profit, and naturally I’ll hope my readers trust my own judgments and buy enough for me to continue enjoying the lifestyle I do, but I’m not sending in any applications to sell my conscience for more dollars, and I hope the interaction I get from my readers and friends keeps me on the same path. Just like those whom I’ve mentioned – I’d rather stay on the path of being a respected marketer and prefer not to aim for the guru title!

And hey – if you’re a guru who wants to defend your actions – two things…..
1 - You don’t need to , I understand it’s just business in todays world
2 - Feel free to add your comment, as I do believe you have a right to free speech and your own opinions providing niether of us intentionally sets out to harm anyone :)

And to my friends who I haven’t mentioned – sorry… Hopefully you’re in my sidebar list of friends, but hey – leave a link in your comment ;)

OK – I’m done (for now) ;)

* Catch Up

I just noticed another month has flown by!
As we hit August in a few days I was reminded that my regular meet up is due next Monday!

So there’s a bit about that below.

In terms of catching up – I don’t know what happened to the last week or even the month being honest…lol

I know I’ve learnt a lot more techy stuff cos I’ve had to for some new niche sites.
I’ve also impressed myself by helping a few readers with their techy challenges.

I’ve added more plugins to my blog too – Which should be showing now …hehe
(try adding a comment to see) ;)

Most of those were due to something one of my readers has set up… A blog commenting challenge to help all who partake!
For more on that I’ll link you thorough to Jacinta’s blog

http://creatingmybusinessonline.com/the-100-blog-comment-challenge/

Like I said in the subject – there is nothing to buy!
Just a fantastic idea Jacinta had (in one of her ‘bimbo moments’ as she calls them)…..

But a few of us have already jumped onto it (cos we realize how helpful it will be in getting our sites ranked well and getting more free traffic!)

Check it out and see if you want to join in :)

In other (sad news) – Rachel’s Nanna passed away last week and we attended the funeral yesterday. As funerals go it was a lovely service (Humanist – that was different but seemed very acceptable to all in attendance). It was also my first time meeting a large part of Rachel’s family, I wish the circumstances could have been different, as Rachel had said for a while that she wanted to take me up to meet her Nanna.
(This only goes to highlight again the importance of getting life’s priorities right! and not putting important things off for the sake of ‘work’!!)

Back on the no sales links subject quickly….

I was smiling to myself all week ….
Why – because I said last week I had seen too many launches and promos and hence I wasn’t going to be promoting most of them!
This week I’ve seen at least FIVE other good marketers saying the same thing (laugh out loud).

Well even if I’m too small to get credited for it, at least I know I was right to say so…hehe
Anyway – if you’re desperate to find something to click on – You can always pop by my blog and read some of the older posts ;)

Meanwhile – IF you live in the UK (Up North) do read about the Northallerton Meet Up below :)

(if not – go click the link to Jacinta’s blog and I’ll catch up with you soon)

Come along and lets see if we can’t help each other with advice on what’s really working and getting results. Plus the opportunity to showcase your sites and products with a view to gaining JV partners for future promotions.
