I hope you’re well, and enjoying all your activities
both online and off

Two things in this email, the first being a link to
some of the resources I use to build my lists.

In a nutshell, the Northallerton meet up went well
At least I thought it did…lol

It was great to meet and put faces to some of the
names I’ve seen.
Sara my lovely other haf was supposed to be there to serve
the coffee, but she was laid up with a tummy bug!

Would you believe that within an hour of getting home – I was
also in agony with the same bug!!… (it was awful)
I really felt bad about leaving her on her own all day!

So that was me out of action for the next 18 hours.
Thankfully, although very painful, it was out of my system quickly.

Anyway, back to the meet up….
(I would recommend you get along to any event you
can – or even try to form one yourself, it’s so much
easier grabbing advice and information from people
face to face…)

As one attendee put it - “That’s stuff you’d never
have told us in an email”

If you want to know how to promote or organise an
event close to yourself – then I’d recommend you invest the $10
and join Forum Know How.
They have a whole section of people organizing these meets.

Another great forum that is currently free to join is Tony Shepherd’s
GuruScamForum.

I like Tony & Sara of Laycock Publishing, and am hoping Tony
will join us at a future meet up.
(So do join his forum and tell him to come…lol)

Moving on

Starting later today I’ll be sending some emails with links
to some freebies that other marketers have sent me.

I have checked the freebies to ensure they are
worth the effort of downloading, They all have info that is useful
to anyone creating an online presence. Naturally some will then offer
further info – which is up to you to decide upon

All I would add is that in every case – it would be well worth
opting in to get the freebie – then decide for yourself if
you wish to remain on their lists.

I’ll also be sending details of some programs that I am not using.
but that have been highly recommended to me.

Basically because I know we aren’t all doing the same things,
other than wanting to make some extra from the internet….lol

I will tell you if I’m mentioning something I haven’t bought or
tried and why, and as ever I’ll be telling you only to take a
look if it will move you nearer your goals.
So do bear that in mind.

**Two Serious Scam Warnings Plus a bargain

I wanted to send this straight out as I know a lot of
people fall for these.

I’ve just received 2 emails…
One supposedly from Pay’Pal
And the other from the IRS

Basically I know them both to be scams –
purely sent to get Ca$h from your
pocket into the scammers accounts.

Don’t ask me about the techy side of how they’ll
manage it – they just will if you cl’ck the links!

The First

Here it is:

From: “PayPal”
To: Not Set
Date: Apr 21 2008, 01:14 PM
Subject: PayPal – Notification of Account Limitation

Dear PayPal account holder,

PayPal is constantly working to ensure security of our customers
by regularly screening the accounts in our system.
We have recently determined that different computers have tried
logging into your PayPal account,and multiple password
failures were present before the logons. Until we can collect secure
information, your access to sensitive account features
will be limited. We would like to restore your access as soon as possible,
and we apologize for the inconvenience.

Your account access has been limited for the following reason(s):

April 20, 2008: We have reasons to believe that your account has
been accessed by a third party.We have limited
access to sensitive PayPal account features in case your account has
been accessed by an unauthorized third party.

(Your case ID for this reason is PP-931-2843-031.)

How can I restore my account access?

Please do not reply to this e-mail. Mail sent to this address cannot be answered.

NOTE: If you received this message in your SPAM / BULK folder,
that is because of the restrictions implemented by your Internet Service Provider.
We are sorry for that inconvenience.

The PayPal one supposedly informs me that my account
is being limited, and I need to log in because somebody has
attempted fraudulent activity on my account.

They then apologise the inconvenience but require me to
secure my account information by clicking on a link
and going through the procedures at the PayPal have in
place to re verify the account sending the limitations.

What’s worrying about this e-mail is that the wording in the
information is very accurate.

On a couple of occasions I’ve had my account limited
with PayPal.
And this wording is the exact wording that they use.

But I know it’s a scam, and here’s why…
In the from and to and greeting parts of the address
service@intl.PayPal.com is incorrect.
To say’s ‘not set’, Where is PayPal would have my e-mail address
and the final part the big giveaway “Dear PayPal account holder”.

PayPal never write “Dear PayPal account holder,” they always
address you by the data they have. i.e. your name.

The final detail is the web link does not take one directly
to PayPal. But to some unknown site that is only identified by an IP address.

In all cases of any communication from PayPal regarding your account.
The simple thing to do is just log into your PayPal account by
opening a browser and logging in as normal.

If paypal have a message for you it will be shown there.

Never, I repeat, never click the links within these e-mails.

We are pleased to inform you that upon reviewing your fiscal activity,
we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of $372.31

To access the online form for your tax refund, please folow this link:

Your Individual Taxpayer Identification Number: 217 53 3569

Because this letter could help resolve any questions regarding your
exempt status, you should keep it in your permanent records.

If you distribute funds to other organizations, your records must show

have evidence the funds will be used for section 497 (c) (12) purposes.

The IRS one really made me laugh.

Firstly again from IRS,and their address is office@IRS.gov,
And the “to” says “Not set”.

So there’s the first giveaway.
secondly, it then goes on to inform me that after reviewing my
fiscal activity, They have determined that I am eligible to
receive a tax refund at $372.31.

There is then some unidentifiable web link and an individual
taxpayer identification number

And finally, a copyright notice from the Internal Revenue Service, USA.

So why is this so hilarious.
Easy- I live in the UK, I pay my taxes to the UK government
Inland Revenue.

Not the Internal Revenue Service of the USA,
What’s more I pay in pounds sterling – not dollars

Therefore any refund would be in pounds sterling not in US dollars.
And frankly – I still haven’t submitted my return yet…. hehe

So naturally this one had me in stitches.
However, I realise that many of my friends & subscribers are in
the US of A. and could easily fall prey to these vicious individuals.

I’m not exactly sure how the US IRS Works.
However, I’m sure they wouldn’t send you an e-mail about
tax refund, so yet again.

I can only stress do not I repeat not,
click the links in these e-mails, if you receive any.

(Do a search on google – But I will say I found the best price on amazon)
Great for dictating instead of typing — especially with my 2 finger typing.

Techy Hell Week, & why I’m Grateful !

**My Week of techy hell..

Here’s hoping You’re well, and I hope you’ve progressed this
last week or so?

My week has been hectic!
I bought a new PC and spent days trying to transfer all my
files over – Long story short – I messed up as usual..lol

I’m now resigned to doing them manually one by one as and
when I need them.

Then I tried to get a wireless connection sorted, to hook up
the new pc to the net, plus Sara wanted the laptop for Her and
Cameron to use.

You guessed it – that went wrong too… I ended up spending a
small fortune having my isp support desk talk me through it.
Everything seems to be working OK now (not quite 100% – but bearable).

I also had a heap of SalesLetter Critiques to get through, and I
seem to have caught up with those, So I can finally get back to
work on my own projects!

I sometimes wonder where the time goes, and how anyone has time for
a ‘job’ is at times beyond me … I have to say – to everyone out
there who is working full time and trying to build an online
business too – I admire you!

Keep chipping away because I guarantee you it’s worth it in the
long run.

I catch myself complaining at never getting time to do so many things,
and yet – I manage to spend quality time with my family, I pop round
to visit friends and catch up on their lives, I have my 3 nights DJing
to entertain myself (and get paid for having fun)… and I still have
time to run errands for Sara – nipping out to the shops or collecting
the takeaway when She doesn’t fancy cooking.

Don’t get me wrong – we still worry about paying the bills just
as the next man does.
But somehow there always seems to be enough to get by.
(Not enough going into saving yet … but I’m sure we’ll get there)

Why am I telling you this – simple…
…to remind myself how grateful I am!

I could easily complain and moan about all the things that have
gone wrong, And about failing to hit targets I’ve set myself – and
sometimes I do!

So it’s nice to be reminded of everything that is going right.

I can honestly tell you that sometimes I wonder where the income
comes from and what on earth I am doing right?

And quite honestly – most of it baffles me.

I’m no good at 90% of what needs to be done.
I can get by on 60% of it.
And I’m successful at 20% of it.

And yet – somehow things fall into place.

I’m grateful for the help I get from the friends I’ve made.
And by that I mean everyone I speak with!

Not just the ‘guru’ types who might promote my products,
but the people just like you and I .

The small communities of people helping people.
You might be amazed at just how much motivation and practical help
we can all be to each other.

A prime example is the SSP forum

People buy into that site due to the wealth of ‘real world’ info that
Lee McIntyre has put together for members.
(and he has just relaunched it after adding heaps more)

You can go see the salespage for details… but the reason I
bring it up is that once you’re inside the members area – and
pop into the forum…

Well that’s where you meet real people who are just like us.
BUT – with such diverse skills and knowledge that it seems impossible
not to gain far more than even Lee could have hoped when he set
up the site.

Actually – it is time I promoted something – lol
I haven’t done too much of that lately – so do hit the link and take
a look at what Lee now gives you for $20

Try it and be sure to pop into the forum, say hello and see if you
don’t get hundreds worth of value before you even go through the
package!

Anyway – I’m drifting, and I know many on my list are already proud
members of SSP.

The main point was to count my blessings after thinking I’d had a
tough week!
To focus on all the great things that are happening and not the
minor hassles!

So if things aren’t going to plan for yourself,
- think about what is going well, focus on that, and ask someone
else to point you in the right direction for advice on the negs.

And do feel free to ask me via my support desk – if I don’t know
the answers…
I bet I know someone who does!

The Giveaway Results (Fascinating)

First up I wanted to lay my cards on the table and tell you
exactly how I did with the EasterJV Giveaway that I asked
you to take a look at.

The reason I’m mentioning it is because it’s the first one
that I ‘Paid’ to be a member of.

There was a free option, but I thought it was time I took
the plunge on one to see if it’s worthwhile investing in.

It cost me $47 to be an upgraded contributor.
That gained me the added benefit of listing 3 gifts instead
of just one.

And I was also permitted to add a paid offer of my own to
the ones member saw when they logged in (in rotation with
other upgraded members)

So here are my results….
(I think they may help you decide if it’s worth considering
these giveaways in future)

I ended up nowhere at number 46 on the JV leader Board
(laugh)
Having only sent 38 people to the site and 1 other contributor
of which 26 confirmed their membership.
(the average for the top 10 was around 250 people)

But Here’s Where It’s Really Interesting.
Due to being a paid member, I got better gift rankings
and hence – of the 3 gifts I listed,

Here’s what I got:

My Easy Cloaker Software — 225 downloads
Copy Power List — 234 downloads
Easy FTP — 240 downloads

Now I can’t be precise at this stage as some people took
all 3 and other just 1 of 2 … but I would guess that the
10 days added around 350 – 400 people to my lists!

That in itself would be worth the $47, and I would have
been happy.

However – adding my offer and the fact that some people
upgraded (so they could download without joining lists)
I earned a total of $127.45 back in commissions.

Therefore the reality for you could have been …
That by setting up those 3 pages and giving away those
products You could now have what someone with no list
would consider a very good small list as well as making
some ca$h..

So I’m not bragging at coming in nowhere, I’m just
showing what anyone could have done by sending a few
people along…. And putting up Quality Gifts of Value!
(Others ranked higher than me with ‘common’ gifts got
far less speople to their downloads)

I know – I asked you to take a look…. But I suspect you
could have sent a few from forum sigs or asked a few
online friends to take a look, so I’m sure you could have
got similar results.

Out of interest – the person at position 92 only
sent 2 people to the site…
And got 194 new people on her list...

That was Aryeh Sheinbein of

(Take a look if you use ebay)
He just emailed me about adding my Magic Auction Words
to his ebay related list (so he must have good taste….lol)

And Guru Types like Alex Jeffereys only got 69 on his list!

I’ve since heard form Joe Nykoluk of
www.FiveStarMarketing.net/
That he added nearly 800 to his list and he referred only 3 people!
(Brilliant Joe — who says this was his first venture in online marketing)
He was in 3 giveaways at once … but I checked his stats in the easter JV
and he has 385 download for just one of his gifts!!

So if you don’t have a list yet… think about it next time
you get the chance to take part as a contributor in one of
these events.

And don’t forget… The last few gifts I gave you had
squeeze pages and download pages added to them for you.

Ebay’s new policies (What’s all the fuss?)

By now you must have heard about eBay’s new policy
to restrict digital downloads from their auctions.

Yeah, I thought so, but many of us online Marketers
found out about this when eBay first mentioned it
around a week ago and since then everyone has either
